American Military Targeted a 'Large Plant' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Without Providing Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that American military assets hit a "major facility" in Venezuela recently. Yet, the former president withheld information about the precise nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no further comment from his administration.

Unspecific Comments Offered During a Radio Show

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a big plant, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we hit them decisively," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Verified Strike

If a US military action is confirmed, it would constitute the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a increase of American strike forces in the region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial objective of the force deployment has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Administration Statements

Trump has for weeks indicated that US forces are prepared to escalate the military campaign by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative approval.

Online video posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion reportedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. However, the footage or the facility has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team reportedly informed a news network that the former president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Military Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the alleged strike the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from within the country about it.

The buildup of US military in the area – a stance some have referred to as a sea blockade – marks the largest naval operation of the Trump era.

Officials have avoided from describing the action as a full blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 personnel are deployed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to implement existing sanctions.
